‘A real treat’: High schoolers from Garfield High School celebrate with cryptocurrency exchange
Garfield High’s students and teachers are preparing to celebrate with Bitcoin, the world’s second-largest cryptocurrency, by using their favorite school vending machine.
The high school’s cafeteria will be equipped with a Bitcoin vending machine that will be staffed by Garfield High students.
“I think it’s just so fun, to have Bitcoin in the cafeteria,” said Garfield High sophomore Lauren Cramer, who is enrolled in the school’s economics program.
“We want to see it, it’s the currency of the future, and we can get excited about that.”

Cramer said that she will be taking part in the Bitcoin-themed celebration, which will be held at Garfield High High’s vending machine on Friday, June 12.
Cramer said that while she would never trade Bitcoin for cash, she thinks it’s a good idea for Garfield High to accept the currency.
“Bitcoin is very, very easy to buy and sell,” Cramer said.
“It’s just, it has a lot of potential, and it’s so easy to use.”
Cramer is one of the Garfield High graduates participating in the “Bitcoin in the Cafeteria” program.
Cramer is excited about the upcoming Bitcoin exchange at Garfield, and hopes that it will be a positive thing for the community.
“I just want to make sure that we’re doing something good for people, for our school and for our community,” Cramer explained.
“I just think that it’s good for everybody, so I’m excited about it.”
Garfield is one school in California that accepts Bitcoin, according to the district’s website.
