How Long Will This Stay Happen? College Football Playoff Predictions Are About to Get a Lot More Dangerous
It’s a new season and the College Football playoff has begun.
For the first time in nearly a decade, the BCS will be decided by a conference championship game, and the NCAA has announced that the Big Ten and Pac-12 are the two conferences to make the big move to the playoff.
The conference championship games are scheduled for Feb. 10 in Indianapolis, and will determine the B1G champions.
If both the Big East and Big 12 are the conference champions, the conference would play the other in a championship game on Jan. 31 in New Orleans.
If the conference championship is played on Jan, 1 in Columbus, Ohio, and both conferences win, the playoff will be played on March 3 in Kansas City.
The first-place conference would have a bye to the conference title game and the other would face off for the conference crown.
The two-team playoff would be played in four-team conferences with a best-of-three series for the top seed.
The top two teams would play a one-game playoff with a fourth-place team having a bye.
The second- and third-place teams would be placed in the playoffs by the end of the regular season.
All of the conference champion’s conference games will be broadcast on ESPN and ESPN2, with the championship games airing on ESPN.
The semifinals will be televised on ESPN3.
The championship game will be a doubleheader with two playoff games.
The SEC vs. Pac-10 and the Big 12 vs. Big East will play on March 5 in Arlington, Texas.
The Big Ten vs. ACC will play in Indianapolis on March 10.
The ACC vs. SEC will play at Indianapolis on Feb. 19.
The Pac-15 vs. conference champion will play a rematch in Denver on Feb 18.
The Sun Belt vs. the Sun Belt champion will be held in Tucson, Arizona on March 12.
The MAC vs. Conference champion will take place in Memphis, Tennessee on March 19.
There will be no bowl games in the playoff, and no conference champions will face off in the conference semifinals.
The playoff will take a record-setting $1.1 billion, and it will be the most expensive college football playoff in history.
The total prize pool for the championship game is $1,879,764,091, with $1 million of that going to the winner of the BBSC title game.
