A Wayzatta High School freshman has been charged with aggravated assault for allegedly stealing his classmate’s car, police said.
Wayzata police said Wednesday the teen, 18, was arrested at about 1 a.m.
Wednesday and charged with two counts of aggravated assault, two counts each of fleeing an officer and fleeing without being arrested.
Waynaca police said the teen also is accused of fleeing from an officer, but was released after posting bond.
Police said the boy’s vehicle was taken from his father and used to flee from officers.
Wayne-based police officer, Mark Evers, said police were called to a home on a property in the 8300 block of West High School Drive after the boy and his friend were arguing and trying to leave the home.
The boys car was found abandoned on a road near the school.
The boy was taken to a local hospital for treatment, Evers said.
The school has an enrollment of approximately 4,500 students, including more than 1,000 students who live at the high school.
